Ismael Cruz Cordova plays Arondir, a new character from Amazon The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. However, the actor may look familiar as he has appeared in several TV shows before that, including The Mandalorian. Yet it would have been difficult to recognize him in the star wars universe under the layers of prostheses he wore for his character.
Who is Arondir in “The Rings of Power”?

Ismael Cruz Cordova appeared in an episode of “The Mandalorian”
the Lord of the Rings isn’t the only franchise Cordova has been a part of. He played a small role in The Mandalorian as Qin, a purple Twi’lek who was arrested by the New Republic in Season 1 episode “The Prisoner”. The actor was covered in numerous prosthetics, so it would be hard to recognize him from all the costumes.
The character had a previous rivalry with The Mandalorian before meeting him in this episode. However, Mando is sent on a mission with a ragtag team to break him out of prison. At the end of the episode, it’s unclear whether Qin is alive or dead, so who knows if Cordova might ever return as the character.
Cordova prefers ‘Lord of the Rings’ to ‘Star Wars’
By playing Round in power rings, Cordova becomes a rare player to join two massive universes. In an interview with Glamour, the actor says he loves both franchises but prefers the Lord of the Rings because it made him believe that he might one day be successful in the entertainment industry.
“I grew up with the eldest star wars movies, but there was something about the Lord of the Rings when I first discovered the cinematic universe that connected me more,” Cordova shares. “I think that’s also the aspect that I grew up quite poor and in many ways struggling. That was around the time I started washing cars, mowing lawns and doing all kinds of work so I could buy a television and a small DVD player. The Lord of the Rings was out on DVD, and I had behind the scenes.
“I had all these desires and questions about this world that I’m in now, entertainment,” Cordova continues. “And it was the first time I got a glimpse of not just an epic tale, but also behind the scenes. I got to see the design and all the work that went into it, and it had an impact enormous on me. It was then that I understood that I could live in this space, whatever its shape. That I could make my life out of it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
