‘Elvis’ remains No. 1 on DVD and Blu-ray sales for second week – Media Play News

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Elvis remained No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart for the week ended September 24.

In fact, four of the top five titles in both rankings were carried over from the top five of the previous week.

#2 on both charts was Universal’s animated sequel Minions: The Rise of Gruwhich sold about 78% more copies during the week than director Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.

#3 on the overall record chart was Sony Pictures’ Where Crawdad sings, the adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name about an abandoned girl who rises in the woods. It slipped to No. 5 on the Blu-ray chart.

Universal Jurassic World Dominion remained at No. 5 on the overall record sales chart, while rising to No. 3 on the Blu-ray chart.

The best newcomer of the week, at #4 on both rankings, was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s DVD and Blu-ray release Outlander: Season 6. The Blu-ray accounted for 45% of total unit sales of the Starz time travel fantasy series.

The Media Play News the rental chart for the week ended September 25 had Where the Crawdads sing move up two places to No. 1. Minions: The Rise of Gru remained No. 2, while Elvis fell to No. 3.

quiver Banditwhich has an early record rental window at Redbox, was No. 4, while Jurassic World Dominion was #5.
