Game of Thrones House of the Dragon prequel adds new stars



Dragon house, the long awaited Game Of Thrones prequel, announced new cast members including Jefferson Hall and Bill Paterson.

HBO’s new spin-off takes place a few hundred years before the events of Game Of Thrones and is based on the novel by George RR Martin Fire and blood. It tells the story of House Targaryen and their fall.

Jefferson Hall, known for playing Torstein in Vikings and Hugues du Val in the original Game Of Thrones, will play the twins Lord Jason and Tyland Lannister.

Bill Paterson, known for his roles in Chip bag, Good omens and Foreigner, was chosen to play as Lord Lyman Beesbury, Lord of Honeyholt and Master of Coin on King Viserys Council.

Hall and Paterson are two of the seven newly announced cast members. Ryan Corr (Hacksaw ridge) like Ser Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong, David Horovitch (Town of Holby) as Grand Mestre Mellos, Graham McTavish (Foreigner) like Ser Harrold Westerling, Matthew Needham (Chernobyl) like Larys Strong and Gavin Spokes (Brexit: the uncivil war) as Lord Lyonel Strong.

New additions join main cast Paddy Considine (Warm down), Emma D’Arcy (Truth seekers), Olivia Cooke (Loan Player One), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Rhys Ifans (Harry potter), Steve Toussaint (It’s a sin), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie) and Sonoya Mizuno (Dev).

Production had previously been delayed due to a positive COVID-19 test on set. However, the filming schedule is said to be back on track.

While most of the new series was filmed in Cornwall, additional filming is set to take place in Càceres, Spain in October.

Most plot details are under wraps at this time, although it has been reported that the series will delve into the origins of some of Westeros’ other main houses and the construction of King’s Landing.

Dragon house is slated for release in 2022. Game Of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Spin off Dragon house is filming.
