We finally have an update on when Joaquin Phoenix directed Joker sequel will begin filming.
The Todd Phillips-directed Joker movie made some pretty big waves in 2019, earning over $1 billion at the global box office and two Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Original Score. In November 2019, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that joker 2 was officially in the works at Warner Brothers, with the return of Phoenix and Phillips. According to an insider with knowledge of the Joker sequel, Warner Bros. has officially received the first draft of its screenplay, and filming for the film will begin sometime in 2023. Plot details are being held in a cell at Arkham Asylum.
The Joker hasn’t appeared on the big screen since Joaquin Phoenix’s film, but he has made a number of smaller-scale appearances, including with Jared Leto reprising his role as Zack Snyder’s Clown Prince of Crime.
