Netflix Releases New ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 Footage Bowing September 9 – Reuters

Netflix plans to air the fifth season of “Cobra Kai” on September 9, and with a month to go, has released footage from the season that confirms the return of another villain from the “Karate Kid” films.

At the end of the fourth season, the Cobra Kai dojo’s victory in the All Valley Tournament left Terry Silver free to expand his karate empire, making his “No Mercy” style the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence putting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

“As Terry Silver enlists old friends to put the valley in a vice, Daniel and Johnny are going to need all the help they can get to stop Cobra Kai in its tracks,” said executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Netflix’s Tudum fan site, where the footage was posted.

The cast includes Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Jacob Bertrand as Hawk, Gianni Decenzo as Demetri, Vanessa Rubio as Carmen, Peyton List as Tory, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny, Oona O’Brien as Devon, Griffin Santopietro as Anthony, Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Martin Kove as John Kreese, and Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver.

Footage released by Netflix also confirms Sean Kanan’s return as ‘Karate’s Bad Boy’ Mike Barnes, who teamed up with Silver in 1989. The Karate Kid Part III torment Daniel.

“Cobra Kai” is produced by Sony Pictures Television. The first four seasons are now available to stream on Netflix. The first three seasons are available on DVD, with the fourth arriving on disc on September 14.
