Rob Zombie’s The Munsters Sets September Netflix Release Date

The Munsters will begin streaming on Netflix at the end of September, just in time for the spooky holiday season.

Rob Zombie confirmed that The Munsters will debut streaming on Netflix the same day as its physical copy release. On September 27, 2022, the film will be released on digital, Blu-ray and DVD, allowing fans to own their own copy if they prefer not to subscribe to Netflix. Exactly a month before that day, Zombie took to Instagram to share a new preview image for the film starring Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster. Zombie notes that the film will be released on Netflix in a month, confirming that its streaming premiere will also arrive on September 27.

Sheri Moon Zombie is one of the film’s three main stars, as she’s joined in the film by Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman and Dan Roebuck as The Count, aka Grandpa. The film serves as the origin story of the romance between Lily and Herman, and because of this, there has been no mention of Eddie and Marilyn in any of the promotional footage. Maybe the kids will come into the picture if there’s a sequel to be made, but that’ll probably depend on how The Munsters performs when it is released next month.

“Everything went as it should, and Jeff (Daniel Phillips) is cast perfectly and he will be so entertaining as Herman. Sheri (Moon Zombie) is also lovely,” Roebuck said of the cast of the film in an Interview with Horror Geek Life. “There isn’t a better person in Hollywood, or anywhere else on the planet, who should do The Munsters movie other than Rob Zombie. It passed through the hands of so many other people and I know that Rob wasn’t just looking for something to tie his tailcoats to. He’s a huge fan of it and being a lifelong fan of it getting into this material, it really is as good as it gets.”
