This year, three stations will be offered on the occasion of Estes Recycling Day at the main parking lot of the event complex (entrance from Manford Avenue).
Station 1: Document shredding (supports Rotary Club scholarships);
Station 2: Recycling of scrap metal; and
Station 3: Electronics (fees apply).
Please note: We will not be offering paint recycling on August 7th. Please leave your paint and related products at home. We are planning a separate paint recycling event in October. More information will be available shortly.
By state law, electronic devices must be recycled and cannot be disposed of in Colorado landfills. Electronics recycling will be a big part of Estes Recycling Day 2021 at our new location, especially since we were unable to offer this service during our mini-event in 2020.
What electronics can we accept? The collected items will be brought to Eco-Cycle / CHaRM in Boulder and therefore we can accept whatever they accept. Please check their website at www.ecocycle.org if you are unsure. Our prices may be slightly different; we have to cover the cost of transporting the electronics and organizing this event.
We can accept:
Tablet, e-reader ($ 5); computer tower, CPU, laptop ($ 10); VCR / DVD player, satellite / cable decoder, video console ($ 5); home printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, stereo ($ 20); small video game, item of similar weight ($ 5); cell phone, home phone, desk phone, camera, router ($ 5); food preparation appliance: blender, blender, food processor, plastic coffee maker, plastic kettle ($ 5); personal hygiene item: electric toothbrush, hair dryer, toothpick / dental floss ($ 2); flat screen monitor ($ 10); 19-inch or smaller flat-screen TV ($ 15); 20- to 34-inch flat-screen TV ($ 25); 35-inch or larger flat-screen TV ($ 40); tube monitor or 19 “or smaller tube TV ($ 30); tube monitor or 20-34” tube TV ($ 40); 35-inch or larger tube monitor or tube TV ($ 50); other electronic waste such as cables, cords, mice, small computer speakers ($ 1 per pound).
The organizers of Estes Recycles Day are looking for volunteers aged 16 and over for the 2021 event. Are you available on Saturday morning August 7 to work a two or four hour shift at this popular event? Contact Kathy at [email protected] for more information.
