According to Studio71’s official production synopsis, “V/H/S/99 harkens back to the last analog punk rock days of VHS, while taking a giant leap into the hell of the new millennium. In V/H/S /99, a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of terrifying revelations.
The anthology film features segments directed by Maggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City)Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream).
“The final year of the ’90s was a perfect playground for us,” producer Josh Goldbloom said in a press release when the project was announced last August.
“DVDs have overtaken VHS, Blair Witch has taken the world by storm, and Y2K scares have created a sense of apocalyptic dread. Add to that 6 of the world’s most creative genre filmmakers, and we’re confident this is the biggest, baddest, wildest V/H/S yet!”
V/H/S99 will be released on October 20 exclusively on the Shudder streaming service in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
